Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.5 Trail to the Heavens launches April 28 and kicks off the final stretch of Dawntrail content before the next expansion. Naoki Yoshida laid out every major addition during Live Letter 92, and this one packs story closure, a brand-new limited job, and high-end raid surprises.
The patch splits its main scenario into two parts, with Part 1 arriving April 28 and Part 2 in early September. Expect the usual quest volume, but heavy ties back to Endwalker lore.
Patch 7.5 sends the Scions to The Clyteum, a snowy Garlemald ruin filled with abandoned factories. Lore fans will dissect every detail about pre-destruction Garlemald, with Jullus playing a key role. The story then shifts to the moon Mare Lamentorum, where the new villain Halmarut drags everyone into conflict involving Zero and Golbez callbacks.

The new trial boss Enuo promises faster, more aggressive pacing than the Doom Train fight in 7.4, especially on Extreme. Fewer environmental gimmicks, more moving AoEs and tight pathing.
The 24-player alliance raid series concludes with Windurst: The Third Walk. This Final Fantasy XI crossover delivers an HD-style remaster feel, complete with new mechanics in the opening fight against a massive Shantotto. Black Mage players will spot familiar abilities scaled up for raid scale, plus arena platform manipulation.

The raid wraps up the stories of Alxaal and Prishe. New all-jobs gear sets drop here as well.
PvP players receive a fresh map set in a Sharlayan library. Archeia Harmonias introduces several unique mechanics designed to keep matches flowing:

The design tweaks lines of sight and fight spaces for better pacing.
The biggest new feature is Beastmaster, a limited melee DPS job in the same vein as Blue Mage. It starts at level 1 and caps at 50. Requirements include a level 50+ job, completion of A Realm Reborn, and Dawntrail ownership.

Beastmaster revolves around capturing up to 50 monsters across open zones and some party content, logging them in the Master's Bestiary. You assign three beasts to Battlehorns and summon one at a time in combat, swapping freely.
Each beast brings four actions:
Two meters (player and beast) fill during combat. When both hit 100+, unleash Instinctual tandem attacks. Chain these to build elemental affinities for stronger Instinctual Combos, including Light and Dark effects. Higher levels add abilities that accelerate meter and affinity gain.

Progression happens through the single-player Crucible of the Unbroken content with multiple difficulty modes and leaderboards. Some captures remain optional in alliance raids.
This is the most complex limited job yet. Expect a dedicated showcase stream closer to launch.
The Patch 7.5 trailer ends with a clear nod to Kefka from Final Fantasy VI. While not officially confirmed in the Live Letter, Yoshida pointed directly at the trailer as the hint for the next Ultimate raid. Kefka previously appeared in the Stormblood Omega raid series. Speculation points toward a Warring Triad remix or full multi-boss encounter.
Patch 7.5 brings long-requested convenience changes:
New UI color schemes: Clear Pink and Clear Grey.

"Beast Master looks cool, and excited to check out North Horn... Plot seems to be moving back toward staggering universal threats"

"I'm excited for some of the QoL changes... The dyes being squished into 3 menus is a godsend."

FFXIV Patch 7.5 delivers exactly what veterans expect while giving limited job fans something meaty to chew on. Beastmaster stands out as the most intricate special job to date. The Kefka Ultimate tease has high-end raiders buzzing, and the QoL updates finally address years of inventory and crafting friction.
Whether you're here for story, raids, PvP, or collecting beasts, 7.5 keeps the wheels turning smoothly. The real question is what 8.0 brings after Fan Fest reveals. For now, April 28 cannot come soon enough.
